MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Hiring our Heroes, a Job Fair for Veterans, will be held on Wednesday, April 24 from 10 am to 1 pm at Middletown VFW Post 2179. The post is located at 1 Veterans Lane in the Port Monmouth section of town.
The fair, which is organized by the Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee, is free for both employers and job-seekers. Employers across all sectors will be recruiting for currently-available positions. Interested employers and veterans can register for the event at hoh.greatjob.net. A resume writing class for veterans will be held in advance of the event at 8:30am.
Also at the job fair will be a Mobile Health Outreach Unit from the US Department of Veterans Affairs that will provide basic health screenings as well as representatives from the Monmouth County Veterans Service office who will assist veterans with benefits and claims information.
Monmouth Beach 3 Mile Run/Walk to be Held May 11

MONMOUTH BEACH, NJ - The Monmouth Beach School PTO, in coordination with the Jersey Shore Running Club, is hosting its 19th annual 3 Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, May 11th at 9am at the Monmouth Beach School.
This anticipated community event offers something for all ages including a 3 mile run, the Dolphin Mile (12 & under), the kids race (7 & under). Awards and raffle prizes will be provided by local businesses. Top M/F awards and age category awards for 1st place Male & Female.
Spectators can enjoy gourmet coffee from Booskerdoo and runners can finish with delicious bagels from Bagel Masters and then get some tasty hot Philly Pretzel Factory Pretzels! Your support directly benefits the students of Monmouth Beach School.
Student Art on Exhibit at Atlantic Highlands Library

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Paintings, drawings and photographs created by Monmouth County Arts High and Arts Middle School students will be on display at the Atlantic Highlands Public Library, 100 First Avenue, Atlantic Highlands, and at the Keansburg Waterfront Public Library, 55 Shore Boulevard, Keansburg, for the month of May, 2013.
The exhibit features work completed by gifted and talented students who participated in the Monmouth County Arts High or Arts Middle School. The programs, now in their 9th year, offer advanced arts classes in creative writing, dance, instrumental music, vocal music, acting and visual arts to students from public and private, and home schools in Monmouth County. Students, admitted to the program through audition, are released from their schools one afternoon each week during the spring semester to participate in the various courses that are taught by professional artists.
Monmouth Civic Chorus Announces 2013 Scholarship Winners

SHREWSBURY, NJ - The Monmouth Civic Chorus awarded a total of $1700 to the winners of its 2013 scholarships for vocally talented New Jersey high school seniors. The First Place winner was bass/baritone Andrew Moore, Point Pleasant, who was awarded $1200. The Second Place winner was mezzo-soprano Kelly Koerwer, Shrewsbury, who was awarded $500.
Andrew Moore attends Point Pleasant Borough High School, where he has performed in honors choir, show choir, competition band, and jazz band. He has also served as class officer, student ambassador, student council representative and member of the Italian club, chemistry club, science league and National Honor Society. He has sung with All-Shore and All-State Chorus, Algonquin Theatre Arts, and Chatham Suburban Music Society, and volunteered with church food pantries, beach sweeps, Read Across America and Relay for Life. He plans to attend Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
Kelly Koerwer attends Red Bank Catholic High School, where she sings in the choir and chamber choir and performs in musical theater. She also sings with Holy Cross Parish Choir and studies voice, music theory and acting. She plans to attend the University of Notre Dame.
Judges for the scholarship competition were Ryan Brandau, Artistic Director, Monmouth Civic Chorus; Reid Masters, Artistic Director, New Jersey Chamber Singers; and Katherine Harris, Professor of Voice, Kean University.

Atlantic Highlands, NJ – Out of 52 participants that lost a combined 494 lbs of body fat in 8 weeks, Cass Ferrigno of Highlands, Ron and Heather Immesberger of Rumson, and Maureen Catena of Rumson, each took home $1000 as first place winners of Shore Results’ New Year – New You Body Transformation Contest!
The Body Transformation Contest
Started on January 21st, the New Year – New You Body Transformation Contest challenged fourteen teams, of four participants, to lose the most body weight and gain the most muscle.

Contest participants received exercise and nutrition coaching to help them on their fitness journey. Team members also attended a “Secrets to Fat Loss” workshop at the start of the program to learn how to achieve the most effective results. In addition to the ongoing fitness coaching, participants received weekly motivational emails, had access to online forums and web based information - all offered to provide the critical support proven to increase success rates.
