Highlands Hears Plans for New Borough Hall

HIGHLANDS, NJ - The new Borough Hall will probably mean an increase of 77 cents per $1,000 assessed valuation was the estimate projected during last night’s well planned, well-organized informational session Mayor and Council held to hear questions from the public on the proposal for new construct ion on the borough-owned tract at the intersection of Miller St. and Route 36.
The increase in taxes was only one of the areas covered during the two hour session with architect Kevin Settembrino and Construction official Pat DeBlasio fielding most of the questions ranging from when the building will be started, how long will it take to build, why does it require three jail cells and a private bathroom for the judge to why will construction take less than six months to be weather tight yet another eight to 12 months or more to completion?

10 projects share $61,215 in grant money
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Historical Commission awarded preservation matching grant awards totaling $61,215 for 10 restoration projects at the 2021 Grants Presentation ceremony held virtually on Monday, Feb. 22.
“The annual awards ceremony for the Preservation Awards Program looked different this year, but it was still my sincerest honor to present grants to these organizations who have devoted so much to the preservation of historical structures in Monmouth County,” said Commissioner Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Historical Commission. “Monmouth County has a rich history and I commend each of these organizations for their commitment to preserving structures for the next generation to learn from and enjoy.”

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone and County Commissioner Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley have announced that today, March 2, there are 255 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Monmouth County. There is one new death being reported today related to COVID-19 in Monmouth County.
The County Commissioners and the Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD) are strongly urging residents to do their part to slow the spread by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering when social distancing is not possible, not gathering in large crowds, washing their hands and staying home when sick.

Kiley have announced that today, March 1, there are 249 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Monmouth County. There are two new deaths being reported today related to COVID-19 in Monmouth County.
