Former Long Branch Teacher Facing Additional Sexual Assault Charges

FREEHOLD – A former Long Branch teacher has now been charged with sexually assaulting multiple elementary school children, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
On February 14, 2021, Gustavo Barrientos, a former elementary school teacher in the Long Branch School District and the Red Bank Charter School was charged with sexually assaulting a 10 year old student.
As a result of the continued joint investigation of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Long Branch Police Department, Barrientos has now been charged with sexually assaulting multiple other elementary school children.
Gas Prices Up More Than 25 Cents in New Jersey as Crude Continues to Climb

Since February 1, gas prices in New Jersey have increased more than 25 cents and are less than 20 cents away from the $3 mark. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 27 cents since the start of the month, increasing nine cents just this week. Gas prices locally and nationally have increased due to longer-than-expected refinery outages as a result of last week’s winter storm that impacted the Gulf Coast.
Today’s national gas price average is $2.69, up nine cents in the last week, up 29 cents in the last month, and up 22 cents from this time last year.
Monmouth County has 308 additional positive cases of COVID-19

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone and County Commissioner Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley have announced that today, Feb. 26, there are 308 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Monmouth County. There are five new deaths being reported today related to COVID-19 in Monmouth County.
The County Commissioners and the Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD) are strongly urging residents to do their part to slow the spread by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering when social distancing is not possible, not gathering in large crowds, washing their hands and staying home when sick.
Brookdale Announces Wilbur Ray Scholarship Recipients

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - “I decided to attend Brookdale because I realized I could get a world-class education at a really affordable price,” said Belinda Asamoah, nursing major at Brookdale Community College and Wilbur
Ray Scholarship recipient.
Asamoah is one of ten Brookdale students who received the Wilbur Ray Scholarship for the spring 2021 semester. The additional Wilbur Ray Scholarship recipients are: Catherine Abin, Bobby Caze, Christopher Dang, Brianna Doremy, Monica Gonzales, Natalie Millan, Taiphane Orange, Lorena Pacheco, and Kettlyn St. Louis. The fall 2020 Wilbur Ray Scholarship awardees are: Bobby Caze, Eduardo De La Cruz, Natalie Millan, Ariadny Nascimento, Jean Guerdy Paul, and Lauren Sangalang.
Sandy Hook Foundation Hires Laurie Bratone as Director of Development

FORT HANCOCK, NJ - The Sandy Hook Foundation, the nonprofit Official Friends Group of the National Park Service at Sandy Hook, has appointed Laurie Bratone as Director of Development, effective February 15, 2021. Ms. Bratone will be responsible for advancing philanthropic efforts of the Foundation, supporting its mission to enhance the visitor experience at Sandy Hook, a unit of Gateway National Recreation Area.
