Special Shape "Monster" Hot Air Balloon To Invade Balloon Festival, Warren County NJ

Balloonatics & Aeronuts, the coordinators of the Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Warren County Farmers’ Fair recently acquired a large, green special shape balloon referred to as a “monster balloon.” Look for the “monster balloon” over the skies of Warren County in the next coming weeks. Also look for it each evening at the Warren County Farmers’ Fair and Hot Air Balloon Festival, August 1 – 7, 2010 at the Fairgrounds located in Harmony Township. The fairground is conveniently located off Routes 78 & 80, 3 miles north of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The “monster balloon” will be the “hare balloon” in one of the evening competitions and will also be giving tethered rides for children for a fee other evenings of the fair. The balloon festival organizers invite children to give them suggestions for a name. Look for the entry form on the fair website, www.warrencountyfarmersfair.org or the balloon festival website, www.balloonfestnj.com.

This is the first look at the “monster balloon” in several years. The “monster balloon” which has been in storage, was recently acquired by Balloonatics & Aeronuts, the coordinators of the Balloon Festival at the Warren County Farmers’ Fair.

Garden State Winemaking Continues to Grow, as Vintner’s Circle Middletown Announces Its Grand Opening

Personalized winemaking has arrived in Monmouth County, and Vintner’s Circle Middletown is the place to go. The shop provides space for friends and family to gather while making, tasting, and enjoying wine.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – The location, which celebrated its Ribbon Cutting ceremony last May, announces its Grand Opening event scheduled for Saturday, June 26. Don and Mary Gordon, franchise owners of Vintner’s Circle Middletown on Route 35, are proud to officially open their doors to the community. The Middletown winemaking shop is the first Vintner’s Circle in Monmouth County, and represents the strong, steadily growing interest in New Jersey winemaking.

New Jersey has had a long history of winemaking, as evidenced by its abundance of both wineries and home winemakers. Today, the Garden State is the fifth largest producer of wine in America, and the fifth greatest consumer. Resolution Honors Joe Azzolina

RED BANK, NJ - On June 14, 2010 Red Bank Mayor and Council recognized Joe Azzolina for his years of service within the Borough as a public servant, business owner and his dedication to many events and charitable organizations. Mayor Menna introduced the Resolution at its’ regular Business Council Meeting and stated “it is most appropriate that the Resolution is presented on flag day.” Present to accept the Resolution were his family; wife Lynn, sons John, Joseph Jr., Mark, Grandson Michael and members of the Scaduto family and friends.

Joseph Azzolina, Jr. said “although Joe Azzolina resided in Middletown he loved Red Bank for its’ restaurants, culture and considered it his downtown.”

Art Hits the Streets: Paint It LIVE, in Long Branch

LONG BRANCH, NJ — It’s been called an “urban wasteland.” A “sad, sad place.” A “dump,” and even a “hell hole.” And that was just one paragraph in last week’s TriCity News.

When the artists of Imagine Long Branch look at lower Broadway, however, they see potential. Possibilities. Beauty, even.

At any rate, it’s certainly nothing that a few well-placed daubs of paint couldn’t fix. That’s why a group of dynamic, creative neighbors has been working closely with the City of Long Branch to transform the block between Second Avenue and Liberty Street into a destination attraction unlike anything ever seen on the Jersey Shore.

It won’t happen overnight. But, for one day, some of the area’s most dynamic and dedicated artists and musicians will sound the keynote — and wield the first ceremonial brushstrokes — when Arts Hits the Streets.

Atlantic Highlands Students Complete AHPD's DARE Program

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – More than five dozen fifth graders from two Atlantic Highlands schools graduated last week from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program run by the Atlantic Highlands Police Department.

“Part of this is getting the kids to know police officers and to know that cops are people too,” said AHPD Patrolman Stephen Doherty, who heads up the local D.A.R.E. program with Patrolman Stephen Vogt.

Doherty, known to local kids as “Officer Steve,” along with Vogt conducted the program during the recent school year. The two officers visited regularly with 5^th graders from the Atlantic Highlands Elementary School and Mother Teresa Regional School to talk about drugs, alcohol abuse, computers and bullying.
