Township Partners with American Legion Post 338 for WWI Monument Restoration

MIDDLETOWN – The township is gearing up to restore a local World War I monument with help from American Legion Post 338.
American Legion Post 338 has made a $1,000 donation to help fund repair of the circa 1930 monument located on Church Street in Belford, announced Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger, Ph.D. The donation was presented to the township at the October Township Committee meeting by Commander Ron Stark and legion member Tom Garretson. Both men are also members of the township’s Veterans Affairs Committee.

On the evening of November 1, a group of 14 talented men officially graduated from a six-week course of singing lessons called "Ready, Set, Sing."
Brookdale Big Band to Host 50th Anniversary Concert Nov. 19

LINCROFT, NJ – The Brookdale Big Band will celebrate Brookdale Community College’s 50th anniversary with a special concert on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. in the college’s Performing Arts Center, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft.
Founded by Brookdale music professor Joseph Accurso in 1985, the band features a revolving lineup of acclaimed jazz and swing musicians from Monmouth County and across New Jersey. The current group includes Fair Haven resident and Brookdale instructor Gary Mazzaroppi, who played bass alongside legendary guitarist Les Paul in the Les Paul Trio, and renowned Broadway trumpeter Joe Mosello.
Middletown Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – On October 26, 2016 at approximately 1:36p.m., the Middletown Twp. Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that was struck. The crash occurred in front of the campus of Christian Brothers Academy, located at 850 Newman Springs Road, in the Lincroft section of Middletown Twp. The pedestrian has not yet been identified, pending notification to family.
The driver of the vehicle remained on location and has been cooperating with the police investigation. The crash is being investigated by Ptl. Michael Reuter of the Middletown Twp. Police Traffic Safety Unit.
