Definitely looking forward to seeing the Christmas Day release of Adam Sandler’s new picture “Uncut Gems”. There was a great story of him on "60 Minutes" recently that peaked my interest moreso. Hollywood is filled with impressive stories of noted funny men/comedians making the transition to serious acting. This film seemed to have a real good buzz and thought this might be his breakout film.
Theatre was packed and was very optimistic. Sandler plays mid-level, NY jewelry trader/retailer...some legit and some not. One of those guys that is high personality yet low luck. Always “looking for his” at the expense of his family, kids, reputation etc. has the perpetual black cloud over his head.
Not a very unique story line and hence not so engaging. Sandler nails the role of the scheming, begging, borrowing businessman trying to strike the pot of gold while having an endless line of business associates who want to virtually kill him to collect past debt & more.
Totally kept my attention just not a deep or unique story line. Quite disappointed.
